- Surface prep of the shell, so the waterproofing has something sound to bond to
- A pool waterproofing system, from a maker like ARDEX, applied and cured
- Main pool tiles, such as 600 × 300, set out from the waterline down
- Steps, benches and ledges, with the edges finished cleanly
- Mosaic and feature bands
- Epoxy grout, which stands up to pool chemicals far better than cement grout

Waterproof
A pool waterproofing system, applied to the maker's specification and left to cure.
Set out
The waterline, the steps and the feature bands marked out, so the cuts land where you won't see them.
Tile
Walls, floor, steps and benches, with full adhesive coverage behind every tile.
Epoxy grout
Such as ARDEX EG 15. It costs more and takes longer to lay, and it lasts in chlorinated water.
Cure, then fill
The pool isn't filled until everything has cured.

Why epoxy grout in a pool?
Cement grout slowly breaks down in chlorinated water and stains. Epoxy grout resists chemicals, stains and mould far better. It costs more and takes longer to lay, which is why it's on the quote as its own line. Grout, explained.
How long before we can fill the pool?
Not until the waterproofing, adhesive and grout have all cured, which depends on the products and the weather. You'll get the date with the quote, and we won't cut it short.
Can you retile an old pool?
Yes. We price full pool renovations: old tiles off, the surface prepared, new waterproofing, steps rebuilt where needed, and the pool retiled. We look at the shell first, because what's under the old tiles decides the price.
Do you tile around the pool too?
Yes. Pool surrounds and alfresco areas, laid to fall away from the water with an adhesive made for outdoors. Outdoor tiling.
